Rehabilitation Services
If you’ve recently had a serious illness, an operation, or an injury (like a fall), you may need rehabilitation to help you improve your function, strength or balance so you can carry out daily activities more safely. Rehab may also help prevent the same problem happening again.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPIES
If you’ve been discharged from hospital after an injury or an operation, you’ll usually have some rehab planned.
Often, an allied health professional like a physiotherapist or occupational therapist will assess your mobility, strength and balance and talk about your lifestyle. Then they’ll set some exercises for you to do each day to help make your body more flexible, stable and strong.
Focused Health Care then helps you follow the plan and complete your rehab therapy. It’s really helpful to have someone come regularly and help you do your exercises so that you can make a good recovery and get back to your usual way of life.
NUTRITIONAL ASSESSMENT AND EDUCATION
You may be on a special diet following surgery or you may have been told to change your diet permanently. Our nutritional assessment and education helps you learn what foods benefit your body and helps you to enjoy tasty, nutritional meals that follow your medical team’s advice.
ACCESSING SERVICES
There are several ways to access community-based rehabilitation. You may be able to use funding from your NDIS Plan, DVA Community Nursing money, or Home Care Package. You may also come as a private client, funding your own care.
