Client-Carer Matching: How We Create the Perfect Pair

Good in-home care rests on a good relationship between you and your carer. That’s why we pair you up with carers who share your interests.

We do this by spending time getting to know you. We learn about your hobbies, interests, personalities, and experiences. We get to know our staff too. And then we carefully match up clients and carers we think will get on well with each other.

It means you’re more likely to enjoy your carers’ company and feel comfortable having them in your home. After all, you’ll be seeing quite a bit of your carers. We want them to feel like your extended family.

Client-Carer Matching: How We Create the Perfect Pair

It’s easy to focus on the service side of in-home care (bookings, fees, quality standards, etc). We certainly don’t neglect those aspects but, here at Focused Health care, we put a lot of focus on the relationship between you and your carers.

That’s because successful in-home care is greatly dependent on whether or not you like the people who care for you. Those relationships are too important to leave to chance, which is why we carefully match our clients and carers.

It’s important to us that you feel comfortable with your carers. After all, you’re welcoming these people into your home and trusting them to care for you, sometimes intimately. You’ll be seeing them regularly, perhaps even daily. That’s why it matters that you enjoy their company.

Client-Carer Matching at Focused Health Care

Here’s how we match you with suitable carers.

1.     Getting to know you

When you become a Focused Health Care client, we spend time getting to know you. We ask about your hobbies, interests, family, professional background and values.

Over many years of doing this, we’ve learnt that no two clients are alike. Maybe you’re lively and mischievous. Maybe you’re quiet and thoughtful. Spending time with you helps us work out which carers are likely to be on your wavelength.

2.     Knowing our staff

This is the other side of the same coin. People are wonderfully varied. When we appoint new staff, we ask about their likes and dislikes and note them down on their paperwork. As we work with them, we learn more about them – whether they like crime drama, comedy shows or prefer a good book instead, what makes them laugh, what motivates and inspires them.

3.     Matching at least two carers

We match you with at least two carers who are likely to be a good fit for you. That means that, even if your favourite carer is on holiday, you’ll still be looked after by someone you’re comfortable with.

4.     Consistency of care

After carefully matching you with the most suitable carers, we then make sure you receive consistent care from those people. We create our rosters carefully paying attention to the mix of clients and carers.

5.     Adjusting where necessary

We have a pretty good track record when it comes to matching clients and carers but we don’t always get it right the first time.

So, if you’re not comfortable with the carers you’ve got, please let us know. We’re more than happy to try a different carer and see if that person suits you better. We want you to be comfortable with your carers.

How Can Focused Health Care Help You?

In our experience, it’s relatively unusual for an agency to place such high value on matching clients and carers.

Maybe it’s unusual in your experience too. Perhaps your current provider just assigned your carers without even asking you about the sort of people you’d feel at ease with. The end result is that you groan inwardly every time a certain carer appears at your door.

You do have a choice about the carers you have and the people who come into your home.

If you’d like to be matched with a carer who shares your sense of humour, is also hooked on your favourite TV show or is an animal lover just like you are, then please join us at Focused Health Care. We’d love to get to know you.
